Hangar Convention and Exhibition Center

COP30 will be the first to be held in the Amazon, the territory with the greatest socio-biodiversity on the planet. The Food Roots and Routes Pavilion emerges as a space for meeting and inspiration, bringing together different voices from the Global South dedicated to guiding the just ecological transition of food systems as part of the climate solution, with a focus on the vision, experiences, knowledge, systematized proposals, and contributions of the Global South.
The pavilion explores how to transform food systems that concentrate on monocultures and industrial livestock farming into models that value agroecology, biodiversity, the knowledge of traditional peoples and communities, and the health of people and the planet.
It is a space designed to include actors who are not always represented in traditional forums, connecting and mobilizing traditional and academic knowledge to reflect on innovation trajectories that act on the interrelationships between food systems and the climate crisis, promoting diversity and inclusion, ensuring the representation of indigenous peoples, quilombolas, traditional peoples and communities, family farmers, academia, organized civil society, and social movements. We want to increase the influence of organized civil society and diverse actors, preferably from the Global South, who work to defend the common good and public interests in the Blue Zone debates.
With collective curation, the pavilion will be a hub for knowledge and exchange of experiences, combining traditional knowledge, science, and innovation. The activities will give visibility to emblematic initiatives that contribute to identifying challenges and opportunities for the just ecological transition of food systems, in addition to discussing the structural obstacles, from production to consumption, that prevent or limit the advancement of fair, healthy, and sustainable food systems, highlighting paths to healthy and sustainable food that positively impacts the climate, health, and social justice.
More than just a physical space, the Food Roots and Routes Pavilion will be a lively meeting place—a catalyst for networks, partnerships, and cultural expressions. In addition to promoting strategic dialogues and collaborative actions, the pavilion will also host events and cultural manifestations that celebrate the diversity of the territories. By connecting national and international experiences, it will show that cultural richness is an essential part of building healthier, more sustainable, and fairer food systems for the Global South and the world.
